One can only imagine the job that some poor secretary at Newcastle United has endured in the past 24 hours, since Mike Ashley decided to accept offers for the club by e-mail.
The bid from Freddy Shepherd and his consortium is, presumably, buried in the midst of 50,000 messages from disgruntled Geordies, the same number again from abusive Sunderland supporters, three inquiries asking how to purchase a ticket for next season's trip to Peterborough and one with the subject title “Have I still got a job?” from Joe Kinnear.
We shall not be moved!
