Fears have been expressed today over the future of Liverpool's bid to sign Gareth Barry as the club's ownership battle threatens to flare up again.

The fact the club's American owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, have yet to produce the promised short-term loan to allow boss Rafael Benitez to complete the £18m transfer has promoted speculation the deal could soon be dead.

Benitez has waited all week for money to be put in place to allow him to end the Barry saga before he sells any more players to fund the deal.

But the longer the delay, the more likely it becomes that Benitez could be forced to abandon the long-drawn-out deal.

The failure to produce funds which Benitez expected a week ago has prompted long-term suitors Dubai International Capital to let it be known they are still waiting in the wings with their own proposals for the club.

A source close to DIC said: "Just because it is has been a quiet summer does not mean DIC have lost interest. They are happy that things have now become low key, and they are awaiting developments."

And there is also speculation a former prospective buyer of the club, and several rich American-based Liverpool fans, have let it be known they are prepared to help the club out of their cash problems.

Observers believe plans for the new stadium have as yet not included confirmed building contracts or the lease being agreed with the local council.

The club's owners are also going to have to find cash soon to fund the stadium as well as re-finance the current loans.

A Liverpool Council spokesman explained the current situation over the lease for Stanley Park, claiming it should be signed in a month.

He said: "It is normal legal procedure for companies to wait three months after the granting of planning permission before signing the lease.

"This is because under planning laws, the public have a right of appeal for three months after the planning permission is given.

"We expect the lease on Stanley Park to be signed in a matter of weeks."

But the delay over the Barry deal is beginning to embarrass Liverpool. As soon as it was suggested the American owners were looking to borrow money to fund the deal, there were City sources - admittedly close to the DIC bid - who insisted borrowing would be difficult in the current climate.

No, no, Andriy 'Ponytail' Voronin v podaljšku tekme proti Laziu zadel za zmago z 1-0. Lep gol, moram rečt, baje (glede po poročilu na liverpoolfc.tv) se je gledalo precej enosmerni promet. Svaka čast, tudi 'solar powered' Voroninu. Drugi teden pa se začne zares.

Enosmerni glih ne na ene 3 momente (1x prvi polcajt 2x drugi) je imel Lazio kar lepo posest žoge in si jo ni pustil vzeti, to lahko pripišemo predvsem odsotnosti koga drugega kot Mascherana, Plessis je pač za take lomi-noge-and-get-out-of-jail-free-card faule še malce preveč zelen.
Probaval so predvsem z streli od daleč pa sta jih Pepe in Diego fajn polovila, pohvaliti pa gre tudi njihovga golmana s kar nekaj super potezami
...spet se je pokazalo kok nam pomeni Agger.... danes izredo razigrani Benayoun, Nando je mel ene 2 lepi šansi (2x je tut fenomenalno tacklal nasprotnika ) Kuyt kot Kuyt borben, neki pripravljal imel malce smole, falil hudo šanso sumasumarum standard s strani lokomotive (ena super intervencija v obrambi, da nebi bilo bi verjetno Lazio zabil gol) presenetil je tudi Arbeloa ki se je (malce preseneljivo) ogromno vključeval v napad, ustvarjal predložke 1x ali 2x tudi fajn predriblal v kazenski
Menjava ob polčasu N'gog pokazal da se na njega lahko še fajn računa.

Pornstar pa kar gol za zmago zabil...verjetno tudi predzadnja tekma za Pool.

Dossena ima fenomenalen predložek ampak mora pod nujno par kil dol vržt in malce še podelati na hitrosti ker parkrat mu je tist zamorc fajn bežal mimo..

Ps. Gol je padel ravno po tem ko je Rafa zamenjal prvotimce (z izjemo Samija ki je prišel v igro v času "selitve narodov") in poslal na teren mularijo (ob spremstvu pornozvezde in Pennanta)

Mogoče bi LFC moral imeti še en penal ampak slika je ravnotakrat malce "cuknla" in nisem uspel dobro videti situacije...
Degen pa kot kaže že po 2x pripravljalnih tekmah ne pride več v ekipo....čestitamo

A Carlsberg spokesman said: “We are quite aware there has been mistake and we are very sorry about this. We are doing all we can to repair the damage.”

CARLSBERG today scrapped a promotion with The Sun newspaper after a furious backlash from Liverpool fans.

The Danish brewer had planned to link up with the tabloid newspaper to give readers a free pint over this month’s bank holiday weekend.

But the move was met with derision from some Liverpool fans, who were angry the club’s shirt sponsor was working with a newspaper hated by many in Merseyside.

Reds’ supporters still boycott The Sun because of its coverage of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in which 96 Liverpool fans died.

Carlsberg were today holding emergency talks ahead of a formal decision to axe the promotion.

Fans’ groups had written to Anfield officials asking for their thoughts on the decision, suggesting Carlsberg’s sponsorship of the club is reviewed.

A spokesman for supporters union The Spirit Of Shankly said: “Carlsberg could have made a more careful choice.

“Lots of people were saying they should not sponsor us if they are doing things like this.

“There is no bigger issue for most Liverpool fans than Hillsborough and The Sun, and sensitivity was called for.”
