Just watched Slovakia face Turkey in a friendly in Bielefeld. Skrtel was pretty good, although there were a few moments when he looked he was going to be either severely injured or sent off. In the first half, he collided with a Turkish player, falling headfirst into the ground whilst attempting a header on a corner. Luckily, he was up with in a minute or so.
In the second half, the Turkish player Gökodeniz shoulder-charged into Skrtel, in order to get past him. He caught Skrtel in the face with his shoulder, resulting in Skrtel chasing after him and throwing him into the ground. Both players got a yellow card, but the way Skrtel got up and ran at him, I thought he was going to severely deck the player. His face looked a bit bruised and slightly swollen, but he fought on.
Funny enough, later on in the half Gökodeniz was running after a ball only for Skrtel to suddenly run in the same direction. Gökodeniz's reaction was hilarious, as he seemed to stop running for the ball and went in a different direction Skrtel also scored a nice volley in the game, which was disallowed as he and about three other Slovakian players were miles offside.
