Five In and Five Out
In
Gareth Barry: Jewel in Aston Villa's crown. Lured by Champions League.
Philip Degen: The deal to take the 25-year-old Swiss right-back from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer appears already done.
Antonio Valencia: At 22, the Ecuadorian combines speed, flair and a work ethic on the wings.
Albert Riera: Has played in the Premier League before - on loan with ManCity.
Eric Abidal: A long shot which might depend on how open Tom Hicks' wallet is.
Out
Xabi Alonso: Rafael Benitez's first big signing as Liverpool manager but increasingly a marginal figure at Anfield.
Harry Kewell: A lost boy at Anfield. Featured in two European Cup finals.
Peter Crouch: Was offered a contract in December but is still likely to go.
John Arne Riise: He has fallen behind Fabio Aurelio in the pecking order at Anfield. Newcastle remains his likeliest destination.
Andrei Voronin: Free transfer to Bayer Leverkusen has scored one goal since October.

O'Neill received a fax from Rick Parry, the Liverpool chief executive, on Thursday afternoon offering a number of unspecified players in a £10million part-exchange deal for Barry, the Villa captain.
Given the importance of Villa's game at home to Wigan Athletic today - when victory would move them into fifth place, above Everton, who do not play until tomorrow, away to Arsenal - O'Neill said that he was appalled by the timing of Liverpool's approach and dismissed the offer out of hand.
“There was no £10million cash offer,” O'Neill said. “It was an offer of cash-plus-mish-mash of nameless players. I've disregarded it. However, there is the possibility of me faxing back and saying I'd consider a cash deal for Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, although it might be the case they don't want to leave Liverpool.

is right la
Jamie Carragher has called on the squabbling parties vying for control of Liverpool to settle the ownership issue once and for all this summer.
The unseemly public slanging match involving co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett and the wannabe buyers from Dubai has overshadowed the club's season, which effectively ended with the Champions League semi-final defeat at Chelsea last Wednesday.
Carragher believes Liverpool cannot afford another campaign of off-field disruption and need key decisions on matters such as the new stadium which would reassure manager Rafa Benitez,
a target for top European clubs, that Liverpool can close the gap on their Premier League rivals.
Carragher said: "The best clubs are the ones where you don't hear about things going on behind the scenes. That was always how Liverpool were run and that's what we want to get back to."
A spokesman for Hicks last night denied there were any financial problems with Hicks Sports Group which would force him to sell his stake.

Velik potencial.

njegove besede:
"Lets get these two out, I have come here as a fan, one of the lads, out of the dressing room, and I fully support what you are doing"

* http://www.dubaiic.com/en/portfolio/cha ... folio.htmlAmerican sports tycoon Tom Hicks has approached some of the hedge funds that backed Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United to help finance his buyout plans for Liverpool Football Club.
When Mr Glazer bought Manchester United for £790m, US hedge funds Perry Capital, Och-Ziff* Capital Management and Citadel provided £275m in financing to the entrepreneur for the deal. Advisers are understood to have approached some of these funds recently to raise financing that would help him acquire George Gillett's 50pc stake in Liverpool and build a new 70,000-seat stadium at Stanley Park.

Last night was special - a great occasion and everything Liverpool support is about. A big thank you to the performers and bands, those who organised it, The Olympia and those of you who came. We'd appreciate a bit of discretion about the very special guest and we'd also like to take the opportunity to thank him.
As a result of our ongoing dialogue, we've had it confirmed that Dubai are prepared to put a supporter's representative on the board and have approached SOS to work out exactly how such a thing should be done. We're taking this commitment at face value and expect them to follow up on it if they take control of the football club. We are not doing Dubai's PR for them, but feel obliged to say we've found the dialogue we've had with them to be rewarding and full of possibilities. There is the opportunity to change the way in which our football club is run and the way in which football clubs across the country are run. They may well disappoint us and their words do need to be followed up with actions but to this point those of us who have had discussions have been impressed.
A supporter on the board is a significant responsibility; one which we want but one which will need long consultation, with Dubai, with other agencies but most of all with you, the supporters. What we expect of such a role, how we want it to be defined, how we select it, these are key questions which tap into the bigger question which it is time to start asking: What, in 2008, do we expect of Liverpool FC in terms of how it manages itself off the pitch to compete on it? In the next fortnight we're going to try to start this debate across the forums. We don't think SOS and its management committee has all the answers, but collectively we are capable of answering this question and given the opportunity from Dubai we're capable of having these answers impact upon the football club should it change hands.
Lastly, we've won nothing yet. Hicks and Gillett are still here. We are working on more ways to make clear to the entire world how they've abdicated their responsibilities as custodians. When we have concrete plans we'll tell you how you can help. In the meantime we're listening to any suggestions you have. Let's redouble our efforts over the summer. This football club is the greatest in the land. It's supporters are the greatest in the land. We learnt that yet again last night. We shouldn't be lions led by duplicitious donkeys any longer. Let's change that.
Thank you for your support.
